It is like a home from home, a happy, safe place where you will find friendship and people who really care.
We have two Houses in Basildon, both providing sheltered accommodation for senior living at the heart of the community. Our Houses offer security, companionship and peace of mind for those wishing to maintain independence in their later years.
Our Houses
Our Houses are called The Octagon and Timberlog. They are both apartment buildings arranged around communal living spaces and beautiful gardens.
Our residents come and go as they wish, enjoying their continued independence but with the security of supported communal living.
The Octagon
The House with eight sides, all good ones
The Octagon is a stunning, eight sided property in the peaceful village of Noak Bridge, just outside of Basildon and is home for up to 11 residents.
The House is light, airy and spacious with a beautiful garden to enjoy on nice days and a wonderful communal dining area where residents come together.
Within walking distance, you’ll find both the local shop and GP’s surgery. There is also a lovely duck pond where you can sit and watch the world go by. There is a bus which conveniently stops right outside the House if you fancy popping into Basildon which is just down the road.
Timberlog
Home from home, at the heart of the community
Timberlog is a spacious property located in Vange, close to Basildon Town Centre and, like The Octagon, is also home for up to 11 residents.
The House has a lovely lounge and dining area where residents come together to enjoy good food and company. The lounge opens onto a beautifully kept courtyard garden, perfect for sitting out on a summer’s evening.
We are at the heart of the community, just across the road from a parade of handy shops, including a Post Office and Pharmacy. The GP’s surgery is 400 yards down the road. There is a bus service to Basildon from just outside the house.

In both of our Houses, you will be able to look forward, every day, to finding companionship and food you enjoy, in a place which feels like home.
Our goal at Abbeyfield Basildon is to help our residents enjoy life to the full, free from the worries of running a household.
Our dedicated and caring staff provide a familiar and comforting daily presence, ensuring that conversation, help and support are available when needed.
You come and go as you please and your time is your own to enjoy your interests and hobbies.
Independent living is at the heart of what we are about at Abbeyfield. Nothing is imposed and we work to ensure that you remain in control of your lifestyle.
Our residents have the option to choose the furnishings in their en-suite accommodation, creating a living space which reflects who they are and helps them to feel at home.
We ask our residents what food they would like to see on the menu and do our best to accommodate what they want.
Our Dedicated Team
Staff who really do care about our residents
All Abbeyfield professional staff are qualified to NVQ level 2 & 3 in Health and Social Care and are DBS checked.
We invest in our employees by offering ongoing professional development. This helps to ensure that we continue to deliver the highest possible standards.
All of our staff receive regular training and attend annual update courses. Ongoing training includes the latest in health and safety regulations, food hygiene and bereavement training.
Our turnover of staff is very low and we believe that this speaks clearly to what a friendly place Abbeyfield is for both living and working.
Our Activities
Events all year round
At Abbeyfield, we understand that each of our residents will enjoy spending their time in different ways. We have regular residents’ meetings and one of the reasons for these is to listen to what residents would like to do.
This might be a trip out to a local pub for lunch or an afternoon panto or a singer coming to the House. We always have summer and Christmas parties for residents and families with different entertainers coming in.
We also arrange for lots of inhouse activities, including baking, bingo and crafts. It is up to you to choose when and how you would like to join in.
